Dr Egerton completed his medical degree (BMed, Hons, Newcastle) in 1994 and has trained and worked in anaesthetics in the United Kingdom as well as New South Wales, Tasmania and the ACT.
Since returning to Newcastle in 2005, he have been working as a Specialist Anaesthetist at public and private hospitals across the Hunter region including The John Hunter Hospital and The Mater Hospital.
He works with a variety of surgeons across several specialties but he has a focus on ophthalmic (eye) surgery, plastic surgery (including cosmetic), bariatric (obesity) surgery and cancer surgery (breast, bowel and melanoma).

Dr Egerton’s patients will receive a tailored approach to their anaesthetic and pain relief based on their medical history, type of surgery and previous anaesthetics.
He will provide them with the safest possible anaesthesia and minimise pain
Evaluate and help them understand risks of surgery and anaesthesia
Discuss any previous anaesthesia experiences, problems or fears that they may have
Answer any questions they or their family have
Minimise pain and nausea throughout their hospital stay.
Dr Egerton is available to nursing staff if they have any problems with pain or nausea.

Dr Egerton sees his patients for a pre-operative consultation on the day of their surgery. However, if they would like to see him in his rooms beforehand, they are welcome to contact his office for an appointment.
