Dr Gokcay completed his medical studies in Adelaide before moving for Anaesthetic training at the John Hunter Hospital. This time in Newcastle was followed by work with CareFlight; retrieving patients from rural and remote settings in the Northern Territory and transporting them to Darwin and interstate hospitals.
Returning to dedicated anaesthetic practice, he continued to work in rural and regional centres along the east coast of Australia before returning to Newcastle and undertaking an appointment at Maitland Public Hospital and the Lower Hunter Valley.
In addition to this work, a growing private practice incorporating Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology keeps him caring for a broad patient population including children, the elderly and the emergency patient.
