  • Dr Donnelly has worked in Newcastle as a Consultant Anaesthetist since 2013. Prior to this he was an Anaesthetic Trainee at John Hunter Hospital but also spent time at regional hospitals in the Hunter and at Orange Base Hospital.

    He currently provides anaesthetic services to several private hospitals in Newcastle as well as retaining a position on the On-Call roster at John Hunter Hospital. Dr Donnelly routinely provides anaesthesia for orthopaedic, general surgery, dental, skin cancer and cosmetic surgery. However, he remains comfortable caring for all patients needing anaesthetic management across most surgical craft groups.

    He continues to be a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).

  • Dr Donnelly is a keen soccer player currently playing in the Newcastle Zone Premier League. He is also a “die hard” Liverpool supporter and enjoys playing indoor five-a-side football socially.

    He was the coach of the Merewether United 1st Grade Women’s soccer squad from 2008-2012. In this role he ran several fund-raising activities and social events to benefit the club and also selected charities.

    Dr Donnelly enjoys listening to music and although his talents in producing sweet melodies are drastically limited, he regularly attends performances organised by the local Conservatorium Orchestra.
