Specialist Anaesthetist

  • Dr Passier is a specialist anaesthetist who completed his Medical Doctor / MSC degree at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

    After completing his specialist training in 2010 he moved to Australia for the first time to complete a fellowship in Intensive Care working at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. He subsequently trained in pre-hospital and retrieval medicine working with Careflight NSW in Sydney. 

    After returning to The Netherlands this was followed by further training and completing a fellowship in paediatric anaesthesia and gaining more experience working as a Staff Specialist in general and paediatric university hospitals. 

     Returning to Newcastle in 2017, Dr Passier now works in private practice, as a Staff Specialist at John Hunter Hospital and the Hunter Retrieval Service and as a VMO Anaesthetist at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

    He cares for both adult and paediatric patients across a wide range of surgical subspecialties, including but not limited to (major) general, urology, trauma, orthopaedic, ENT and neurosurgery. 

  • When not at work, Dr Roeland enjoys mountain biking, traveling and family life.
