Experience

Dr Donnelly has worked in Newcastle as a Consultant Anaesthetist since 2013. Prior to this he was an Anaesthetic Trainee at John Hunter Hospital but also spent time at regional hospitals in the Hunter & at Orange Base Hospital.

He currently provides anaesthetic services to several private hospitals in Newcastle as well as retaining a position on the On-Call roster at John Hunter Hospital. Dr Donnelly routinely provides anaesthesia for orthopaedic, general surgery, dental, skin cancer & cosmetic surgery. However, he remains comfortable caring for all patients needing anaesthetic management across most surgical craft groups.

He continues to be a Fellow of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).

Personal

David is a keen soccer player currently playing in the Newcastle Zone Premier League. He is also a “die hard” Liverpool supporter & enjoys playing indoor five-a-side football socially.

He was the coach of the Merewether United 1st Grade Women’s soccer squad from 2008-2012. In this role he ran several fund-raising activities & social events to benefit the club & also selected charities.

David enjoys listening to music & although his talents in producing sweet melodies are drastically limited, he regularly attends performances organised by the local conservatorium orchestra.
